Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, a gifted and versatile
performer who could do comedy as well as drama, was an actor/singer who became
a popular name in the 1980s, when she appeared in the character as Peg Bundy.
She was the brilliantly open, unorthodox Peg Bundy in Fox's Married... with
Children (1987). During its lengthy run she received three Golden Globe and two
American Comedy Award nominations. As well-known and well-known as her Peg
Bundy persona was, Katey assertively moved on after the show went off the air,
not just acting in TV shows and sitcoms as well as portraying characters that
were polar opposites of the outrageous role that first earned her nationwide
attention. She played Gemma Teller Morrow in Sons of Anarchy (2008) as the
Matriarch of the Hell's Angels-like California biker family. In 2011, her
performance earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an
Actress in a Television Series Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal is the daughter of
Sara Zwilling (director and singer) and Boris Sagal (film and television
director). The Los Angeles native began performing at age 5 and studied voice
and acting at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. A
singing waitress in her "salad" years, she started singing with the
group "The Group With No Name," then caught a break after hooking up
with Gene Simmons and his 1970s rock band KISS. She also gained valuable
experiences as a backup record singer for Simmons as well as other famous
artists such as Bob Dylan and Etta James. She also performed with a lot of
energy when she performed live with Bette Midler during the wild stage show of
Bette Midler of the late 1970s/early 1980s.
