Creativity goes beyond the photographic, canvas or film, as well as the media. It could also serve as an inspiration for charity and philanthropy as well as for activism. Patricia Velasquez, an award-winning model, actress, and historian an ardent philanthropist, a fervent activist, and mother of two, brings an unwavering creative drive to everything she does, whether it's starring in blockbusters such as The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation, and being on the UNESCO Board. She draws on her instincts and makes her own way and is making huge strides. She states, "I see my career as a long ladder." "I did every step to the top. It was amazing to do this, as there has been longevity. Simply put my head down , and moved one step at the time. And then it was done. This is a metaphor that evokes an early experience. After a few years she relocated to Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and grew up in France and Mexico. In South America her parents worked in education. They relocated their family to an apartment complex with no water and inoperable elevators. To provide water for the apartment, Patricia often carried heavy buckets up 15 flights of stairs. In between studying engineering and intense dance lessons, she endeavored to help the family in every way. Her promise to her family members, which was the most important factor that helped her rise to the top of the fashion industry, got her being scouted for modeling in Milan. She recalls saying, "When they asked me if I wanted to go to Italy and I said, 'If you can send 30 bucks a month home to Venezuela the cost will be worth it, since that will cover the whole cost of the water used in the building's." Patricia's success was a major moment in fashion since she was able to draw attention to South America for first time. In the wake of becoming "the first Karl Lagerfeld model ever photographed" after which she proceeded to star in editorial spreads as well as front ads for Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana.
