Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as professional dancer. However, after having a time spent with her sister Katie on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily was captivated by acting. While taking classes in acting and directing, she was also offered part-time roles in Canadian television programs. The TV shows she was a part of include Do You afraid of Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp had a big breakthrough in his career after getting a role on Glory Days, the WB mystery horror show. Though the show garnered positive reviews, its low ratings caused it to be removed after only nine episodes. However, she was successful to secure a new role Amy Abbott on Everwood. She was nominated for four Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
